“Surround yourself with people who are ahead of you…
because what’s hard for you might be easy for them.”
—
Surround yourself with people who are more educated.
In better shape.
More disciplined.
Making better decisions.
Not because you’re lacking…
but because proximity changes you.
—
And I say that with so much ease…
because I know how uneasy it actually is.
—
There’s something uncomfortable about being the least experienced person in the room.
The one asking questions.
The one still figuring it out.
The one who feels… behind.
—
But let me shift that for you:
You’re not behind.
You’re just in a room that’s stretching you.
—
And that’s a privilege.
—
🧠The Neuroscience of Who You’re Around
Your brain is constantly mirroring the people in your environment.
It’s called social conditioning and mirror neurons.
You subconsciously:
- Adopt their habits
- Pick up their language
- Normalize their standards
- Align with their behavior
So if you’re around people who:
âś… Wake up early
âś… Take care of their bodies
âś… Speak with intention
âś… Move with discipline
Your brain starts to register that as normal.
Not aspirational.
Normal.
—
And what becomes normal…
becomes who you are.
—
So yes—being around people who are ahead of you might feel intimidating.
But biologically?
It’s one of the fastest ways to evolve.
—
📊 The Statistics of Proximity
There’s a reason you’ve heard:
“You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.”
Studies in behavioral psychology show that:
- Your income, habits, and mindset often reflect your closest circle
- Obesity, financial habits, and even emotional patterns are socially contagious
- Success leaves clues—and those clues are often found in your environment
So if everyone around you is operating at a certain level…
you will either rise to it…
or feel the tension of not matching it.
—
And that tension?
That’s where growth happens.
—
🪞 The Philosophy of Ego & Growth
Here’s the truth most people don’t want to admit:
Ego hates rooms where you’re not the best.
It wants you to feel comfortable.
Superior.
Certain.
But growth requires the opposite.
It requires:
Being the least experienced
Being corrected
Being challenged
Being uncomfortable
—
“If you’re the smartest person in the room…
you’re in the wrong room.”
—
Because staying where you feel “on top”
will keep you exactly where you are.
—
And pride?
Pride will convince you to stay in rooms that no longer grow you…
just so you don’t feel small.
—
Don’t let your pride rob you from an easier path to growth.
—
đź“– A Little History on Environment
Throughout history, proximity has always shaped success.
Apprentices learned by being around masters.
Scholars gathered in intellectual circles.
Athletes trained with those better than them.
Nobody evolved in isolation.
They evolved in rooms that required more from them.
—
So why do we resist that now?
—
đź’Ś A Self-Care Truth You Might Not Expect
Self-care isn’t just:
Baths.
Rest.
Softness.
Sometimes self-care is:
✨ Putting yourself in rooms that challenge you
✨ Choosing friends who hold you to higher standards
✨ Being around people who inspire you to do better
Because who you surround yourself with…
is a form of self-respect.
—
You are protecting your future
by choosing your environment carefully.
—
🪴 The Internal Shift
Yes, being around people who are ahead of you
can feel like a constant reminder…
that you’re not there yet.
But don’t misinterpret that feeling.
That’s not failure.
That’s exposure.
—
You are still:
Educated in your own way.
Successful in your own way.
Growing in your own timing.
—
But now…
you’re in a position to expand.
—
And one day?
You’ll be the person someone else feels intimidated by.
Not because you’re better…
but because you stayed in rooms that required more from you.
—
So don’t shrink.
Don’t withdraw.
Don’t run back to comfort.
—
Stay in the room.
Learn.
Observe.
Adapt.
Grow.
—
Because your biggest problems?
Might be someone else’s easy solution.
And being close to that…
might change your entire life.

All my love
